My reverse-jinx totally worked on Monday. Games 1 & 2 of the Western Conference Final between the Phoenix Coyotes and the Los Angeles Kings are on Sunday and Tuesday. How exciting is that? Talk about Pacific Division supremacy. I bet all those Power Ranking writers on ESPN and TSN feel so good about themselves now! (Yeah, Scott Cullen. I’m especially talking about you.)

Annnnnnyway, here is a combination very similar to the one on Monday. I didn’t jelly sandwich this one, but did I mention I want to jelly sandwich all the things?

This is two coats of Barry M Raspberry under two coats of China Glaze Ruby Pumps. It pulls more red than berry-ish red because of the glitter. Please ignore the bubbles from my Seche Vite. I pulled a new bottle out and accidentally applied too much when I wrapped my tips.

Look how glowy it is. Om nom nom nom. I believe this one won the Coyotes game 5…and this was after I had peeled of the first go out of nervousness. I slapped this on again super fast right when I got home from work, and then what happens?

I’m way too proud of this team right now.

(PS GO YOTES)

I don’t have a red polish tonight for you all. I figured I’d wear something else as a “break” while the East finishes up their games (tonight, possibly) before the Conference Finals start. All I know is we’re playing the Kings, and it is going to be the most exciting series this playoffs.

HOWEVER, I do have a pretty Girly Bits for you. This was the third and final Girly Bits I bought during her recent shop opening (the one before last). It’s starting to get a little warmer out, and I am soooooo not ready for the heat. I wanted to wear something “cool” to take my mind off the rising temps, so I am wearing January Morning. Why yes, I would like January’s weather back!

A sheer sparkly white, with flashes of pink and blue. Like freshly fallen snow. This one is inspired by my Dad. You can read the story behind this polish by clicking here.

This is one coat of January Morning over two coats of OPI I Vant To Be A Lone-Star. It’s so elegant.

I layered this over other colors, but the pictures didn’t turn out well at all, so I cut them from this post. I really wanted to show you how this glorious polish looked over a light pink and a white. Alas. Maybe later? ;)

The blue is visible enough, but the pink a bit less so. I think it’s just my lighting, though. I have to be better at positioning my lamps better.

Of course I love this because I love subtle shimmer. I mean, it is a white shimmer that softens almost everything you put it on (maybe even black, who knows?), but that pink and blue just slay me every time I look at my nails!

Have you read the story behind the polish yet that I posted near the beginning? It is a tear-jerker, but a fantastic way for Pam to pay homage to her father. I don’t know if I’d be as creative when the time comes for me.

Thanks for reading! <3

I could have sworn I took photos of my lucky Coyotes layering scheme from last week, but…I guess I didn’t. I hate when I do that! It’s been happening a lot lately; my nails are done right before I go to bed and I’m so tired (read: quite possibly lazy) that I tell myself that I’ll take photos in the morning, and then it never happens.

Instead, I’ll show you one that was unlucky, as a way of reverse-jinxing myself (and my team).

This is two coats of China Glaze Hey Sailor, under one coat of OPI Teenage Dream, under one coat of OPI Big Hair, Big Nails.

I absolutely love using Teenage Dream for jelly sandwiches. It is so sparkly. It’s also one of the polishes I bought when I started to really get into nail polish. I bet you Katy Perry dances around her bedroom saying “Sorry I’m not sorry!” when someone buys her nail polish. I know. You can see it in her eyes.

Maybe it was unlucky because it was so bright. Eh. It’s still red, o ye hockey gods!

(also go yotes win pls)

Not only is this mani tonight red, but it also features something I haven’t worn yet. I’ve been on a gigantic red kick, for obvious reasons, but I haven’t edited any of the photos I’ve taken yet so I can’t show them off. You can see Hipstamatic’d versions of them on my Facebook page, since it’s the easiest way to show content without writing a big blog post.

This is two coats of Cult Nails Iconic. I thought I would absolutely love this color; it’s a dark berry-ish red, perfect for fall, with what looks like gold shimmer and flakies. Flakies. While that sounds incredibly awesome, it doesn’t translate to the nail as well as I thought. I love gold shimmer, I love flakies, I love dark reds for fall. You can barely see the flakes (probably because the base color is too opaque) or the shimmer.

I decided to add some more flakies by putting a coat of Cult Nails Clairvoyant over it. I do love this flakie polish. It has more crazy colors than the Nfu Oh flakies. One coat even gives you enough to satiate your appetite. It’s glorious.

The super sheer blue base gives Iconic a pretty purplish tint, which I like.

I dunno why I picked this combination; I was trying new things, and unfortunately it didn’t impress me as much as I wanted. I might have to put Iconic up for adoption; whenever I try new polishes, I always try to see if I can wear this with something else.

Anyway, thanks for reading!

I don’t know why I’m so fixated on China Glaze Hey Sailor lately. I think it’s partially because I purchased this last year during one of my first Victoria Nail Supply purchases (in which I also got my first neon polish and OPI Movin’ Out), and I hadn’t worn it since. I’ve been trying to find something other than nail art to use it. Or maybe I recently rekindled my love for Horatio Hornblower. Either way, it just had to be worn!

This is two coats of ChG Hey Sailor, and one coat of Lynnderella One Nutty Fruitcake. I definitely could have gotten away with one coat of the base color, but I suppose I just like wearing two. It’s a habit of mine. For some reason, it looks a little more orange than it should in these photos.

I hadn’t worn this red before because it’s pretty loud. It’s a bright, nautical red that you’ll find in striped shirts and bandanas. And maybe fresh paint on a 74-gun frigate. It’s bright, but not neon bright, though. Additionally, what’s nice about ONF is that the bright blue shimmer still manages to stand out.

It is soooooo shiny with Gelous over it. Application was great on both; Hey Sailor wasn’t too thick or too runny, and ONF’s application was super smooth & reminded me of Lovey Dovey. The smaller glitter polishes from Lynn go on much smoother, and you don’t need to glob on a large drop of polish to get a bunch of glitter onto your nail.

This was always a recommended combination by friends and fellow nail boarders on MUA. I never thought they would go together because colorful glitters like ONF and The Glittering Crowd just stand out so well against black. I am glad I left my comfort zone to try this one out. :)
