I will be leaving you with three polishes from a small Etsy store called Lacquistry. Lacquistry is run by a very sweet woman down in Tucson with a penchant for large glitters & bright colors. Basically, a woman after my own heart! I also like shopping locally quite a bit, so I was more than happy to purchase from her!

These polishes are called Shredded, and they come in a variety of colors. I purchased pretty basic colors, but I think the turquoise one is calling out to me…I’ll have to return & get it before it disappears!

(excuse the fingerprint…my fingers were a little greasy from the hand cream ;P)

This is one coat of Shredded over OPI Koala Berry. I believe this is the original Shredded; it’s what caught my eye before everything else did! I chose this base color because it is a super bright pink, and also one of the first polishes I bought since moving out for the first time. It holds a special place in my heart.

They kind of look like pencil shavings…cool, right? I bet you could layer this over pretty much anything: cremes, shimmers, glitter…well, maybe not anything black. But I bet it would still look cool!

This is 24K Shredded over black. This may be my favorite out of the three because it reminds me of thick, gold flakes. I would say that this is my alternative to polishes like Essie As Gold As It Gets, or Nyx Gilded Glitter, as this is more pronounced and less dense. If I wanted people to think I randomly sprinkled gold flakes onto my nails, I’d choose this.

Please excuse the streakiness of my ring finger; I didn’t notice it until I started editing my photos! Argh! How embarrassing. I bet this would look even better over a true turquoise color to get that gold vein-effect on an actual turquoise stone. I know, weird. I could make it easy and try some turquoise crackle over gold polish, but come on. 24K is so much cooler!

I take that back: 24K is not my favorite. This is. Look how much glitter you can get from one coat! This is Silver Holo Shredded, and maybe this is my favorite because I absolutely love holographic polishes. Technically, I should be calling holos prismatic, but let’s not get technical here. It is Friday, after all. Plus, the word “holo” is pretty sweet. Holo. It’s so futuristic, man.

I had no issues taking photos of this; you can see so many colors in there!

Application was very easy on all three; you could definitely glop on some polish on your brush & move it around on your nails for maximum random effect, and not have many bald spots. I would, however, use Gelous or IA to smooth the surface. One coat of Gelous + SV should do the trick. Sometimes the edges of the glitter stand up, and since they are pretty pointy, I imagine it wouldn’t be very fun to accidentally scratch your face. Believe me. I’ve done it with bar glitter. It’s no bueno.

This is one coat of I Can Afford It! over a-england Camelot. I just couldn’t think of a good layering combination for this polish, so I decided to use black to bring out the bright green.

You know what this reminds me of? It looks like the leaves of a four-leaf clover! I don’t know why. I also love the random orange glitter I get when I put this on. I think there’s even a few purple and/or blue pieces of glitter as well, but I’m not sure. It may just be the light, but I can see it in the bottle, so maybe I did get a piece or two!

This is two coats of It’s Just A Flesh Wound over two coats of a-england Camelot. Did I mention that Camelot is now my favorite black? More favorite than WnW Black Creme? It’s opaque in one coat, is black as night (or #000000, take your pick), & just wears so well!

Anyway, back to this pretty glitter. I love the large bronze & red hexes and how they work very well with the smaller silver, red, & bronze glitter. I love warmer colors like red & bronze over black (even when it comes to what I wear!). I surprisingly don’t have anything like this, not even a glitter layering combo!

My love of this polish comes from my love of the movie Monty Python & The Holy Grail. I remember watching this movie in an English AP class my senior year in high school. Can you believe I got extra credit for coming early to school to watch this? :D

Anyway! Today I’m featuring the Mad Man With A Box trio. This is a pretty sweet trio of polishes, while still managing to bring out my inner Whovian.

This is one you have seen (because I accidentally put this under the Spaceman trio) recently. This is three coats of All of Space & Time, a shimmery mint green polish with light green glitter & larger pink glitter. I’d love to layer this over a mint green like Illamasqua Milf.

This one has gotta be one of my favorites from Nerd Lacquer as a whole; the green and pink mesh very well together, and it’s definitely got your attention without being too busy.

Home of the Untempered Schism is similar to Exterminate; it is another brown polish with large gold hexes and smaller black & gold glitter. However, this doesn’t have a ton of blue, but small red glitter instead. It’s a warmer brown, and anyone who likes neutral, non-flashy colors would like this a lot.

The glitter isn’t as in your face because the brown is a lot warmer with the red and gold. So pretty, though! This would definitely be a “palate cleanser” for me as well.

This is three coats of I Think You Call Me…Sexy, aka how did this woman get the perfect shade of TARDIS blue in this polish?! And is that scattered holographic glitter I see? With large blue hexes? It’s outta this world! (Sorry, I had to say that. I couldn’t help it. Please groan accordingly.)

The name of the polish comes from a Neil Gaiman episode in season 6, where the essence of the TARDIS makes her home in a woman’s body. I don’t know if I want the TARDIS to take over my body, but I imagine it would be quite interesting.

The collection is great, but my heart definitely favors Oi, Spaceman! because of the Donna Noble references. Mad Man With A Box brings the Whovian out of us all.

This one has got to be my favorite collections, and not just because of where the title originates from. Most people know that Donna Noble is my favorite modern DW companion; she is funny, strong-willed, and doesn’t fall into the new “love trap” that the modern-day series seems to possess. Donna has the biggest heart & brings some humanism into The Doctor, as well as a sharp, witty tongue.

While I’d love to talk about Donna & The Doctor and season 4 more, I’m going to show you the polishes in this trio instead.

EDIT 01/19/2012: I am soooooo sorry for mixing this up! I’ve blundered the two Doctor Who sets and categorized something under the wrong set. This has now been rectified. Thanks for your understanding.

This is three coats of Regeneration, a super awesome orange polish with large gold hexes & gold and black finer glitter. This reminds me of Lynnderella’s Couldron Drippings, except without the bar glitter.

I’d love to layer this over OPI Y’All Come Back, Ya Hear? and/or turn it into a jelly sandwich. How cool would that be? Unfortunately, you will not be exuding matter from your fingertips when you wear this, no matter how much you want to.

Don’t Blink is one of the few NL polishes that is opaque in two coats. This is a beautiful gray polish (a la Zoya Dove), with smaller black glitter & larger white hexes. Check out that honker on my ring finger!

This one might be a little too bright on my skin tone, but I care not. I do what I want! :P I love straight up grays, so this is perfect in my collection. Plus! Glitter! YES!

This one…this one is my favorite. Exterminate is a dark brown polish with black, blue, & gold small glitter, and large gold hexes. This polish embodies the essence of the Daleks, and looks fairly opaque in three coats. You may need a fourth, which is no issue, considering you add extra depth to the polish.

I would not want to cross a Dalek at any given point in time, even while wearing this. Though, if I flipped them the bird, would that mean they were flipping themselves off because Exterminate looks like the thick armoring of a Dalek? Discuss!

What I love about Nerd Lacquer polishes is that the range of depth you can attain from multiple coats is very similar to HARE Polish. You can slap four coats on & not worry about extra thickness. Like with most glitters, you may need a coat of IA or Gelous before your top coat to smooth out the surface, but that’s so routine for me that it’s now become a non-issue.

This post contains the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy trio. The series is one of my favorites, and needless to say, I was pretty excited to receive this for Christmas from my BF. The bottles I received are the older, taller square bottles with the vertical labels. She has since changed the bottle to a shorter square bottle…not that that’s really an issue, but some people are interested in that sort of information. (And if it is and it prevents you from purchasing fine polishes from this fine woman, you need some help!)

This is three coats of Hyperspace Bypass, a bright yellow glitter with iridescent, silver, gold, & black glitter. I should have shaken up my bottle a little more to get some more of the larger hex glitters on my nail, but I love the smaller black glitter the most.

I wish I could have taken more color-accurate photos; the polish leans a bit more yellow than the ones I’ve posted here. I wouldn’t say it’s a neon yellow, but it’s pretty close.

Entirely Unlike Tea is a neutral beige color with pinkish undertones, silver hex glitter, & smaller iridescent glitter. I wish this would have photographed better, because it’s so beautiful! My skin tone does not do this polish justice.

The smaller glitter flashes, blue, orange, and green, which is so awesome. Next time I wear this, I am going to layer this under OPI Bubble Bath, or Zoya Lauren for some extra awesome. This is a great palate cleanser for me: subtle, yet glittery. I mean, I can’t just not wear glitter, after all. ;)

Don’t Panic is a sweet green polish with darker green hex glitters & lighter green fine glitter. I believe there’s some orange glitter in there too, but it didn’t show up in any of my photos.

I’ll probably wear this again during St. Patrick’s Day. I kind of wonder what would happen if I wore this over all my green Lynnderella polishes. I imagine I would crack open the space-time continuum. I’ll probably do it anyway.

Can I say that I am so impressed by these? They definitely need a base underneath to prevent visible nail line, but there are a few colors I have that would work perfectly under these. Hyperspace Bypass is my favorite from this set; yellows look really bad on me, but to be honest, I would wear it anyway. These capture the feel of the books perfectly.

I’m talking about Mercury’s Rainbow, a fantastically holographic glitter polish. Lynnderella started offering this after The First Edition was released with a few group orders. She was nice enough to make more bottles, and I finally obtained this Lynnderella from a pre-order at Llarowe’s shop. Check out that rainbow in the large hex glitter! For some reason, this polish reminds me of “Gravity’s Rainbow” by Klaxons. Anyone remember them? I was totally into their first album in college.

This is two coats over WnW Black Creme. I think I should have used a different color base, because the black didn’t wow me as much as I thought. I loooooooooooooove that the glitter sparkles in different colors like that!! I will never know where she found this glitter, but my goodness…it’s absolutely glorious.

Every angle of light produces different colors. Even the super fine glitter is holographic. It’s awesome! I can’t stop staring at my nails!

Here’s a polish I’ve been pretty impressed with. This is HARE Polish Bio-Exorcist, another polish from their Halloween collection from last year.

This is three coats, which is more than enough. I love the purple jelly base with the blue large hexes and the smaller white glitter. This combination works very well.

This would look super cool over a dark purple shimmer for some added effect, but no undies are required. It’s even shinier with a coat of SV! It will need a coat of Gelous to smooth the surface out, but that’s hardly a hindrance.

I like to think of this polish as snow falling gently on jewel-encrusted velvet. You may think it’s far-fetched…but it’s the perfect description, yes? You know you can see it, too!

Talk about Hockey the Hard Way. Good things happen to good people in…wait for it…Mysterious Ways.

LOL! Yes, I totally did that. Now onto the polish. :)

Say hello to Mysterious Ways, a pretty lilac glitter from Lynnderella’s Funny Money collection. I love this bottle shot because of how the glitter sparkles!

I had been waiting to wear this over something cool, but I just couldn’t wait. I slapped two coats on over two coats of Zoya Dove, and I was pleased with the result. The gray didn’t dull the purple as much as I thought, so that was a plus!

I absolutely love the scattered holo in this. It is the cutest thing. It’s like if Mercurial, Snow Angel, & Shape Shifter all bumped into each other, then fell into a pile of purple polish. That is what this looks like!

I hope you can’t see some of the bubbles…I can’t tell if they were bubbles or if they were from overlapping pieces of glitter.

Anyway, I have to tell you about this neat mani I did. I didn’t actually think this would work together, but it totally does.

This is two coats of Essie School of Hard Knocks. I have a difficult time explaining what this color is. It’s definitely dusty, leans more green than the photo, but definitely has some blue in it. This was part of Essie’s Cocktail Bling collection last winter. I really like the color a lot, but it was kind of streaky. You can actually see a bald spot on my pinky! I’ll just pretend it’s the light, though. :)

This is As Gold As It Gets, part of Essie’s Luxeffects collection also released last winter. (Okay, so that feels really weird to say. “Last winter” is technically last month!) This is a gold flake polish, similar to CND 24K Effects. Maybe a little bit more dense, and a tiny bit more fine?

Here they are together. Sometimes the flakes look like microglitter when I turn my hand a certain way, but you can definitely tell they are flakes. This combination impressed me a lot. Gold and green always seem to match well.

Ever since I saw photos of Nyx Gilded Glitter, I knew I needed to have a gold flakie in my collection. I know that this is more dense than Gilded Glitter, but I don’t have the latter to compare. (Nor do I have CND 24K, either.) At least I know that I won’t need a second coat! :D

I noticed a tiny bit of bubbling on my ring finger, but I think that may be from my SV. Looks like it may need a bit of thinning again.
