OPI I eat Mainely Lobster + Cosmic Pink Franken

I am so in on pink corals. Regular coral usually leans more yellow on me and turns orange. (Dior Bikini unfortunately does this.) The hues that fascinate me the most are the ones that toe the fine line between HI I’M PINK and HI I’M ORANGE. This OPI definitely skirts between both sides.

I love the shimmer in IEML. I’m down with HSP, yeah you know me.

(That’s, er, Hidden Shimmer Particles, if you were wondering.)

The franken was another gift from my friend Jenny. She is one of the most genuinely nice people I’ve ever had the pleasure of being friends with. Seriously, you guys.

Here’s a closeup of the franken. I think there’s tiny flakes in this one, but I couldn’t tell. It’s so sparkly and pretty, though!

This is two coats of OPI I Eat Mainely Lobster under two coats of Cosmic Pink. This was perfect for my super nubs. I have a tendency still to pick at my nails when they get too long, which is dumb because what I think is “long” is totally “normal” for the rest of the world. I just like having shorter nails. Filing is a pain in my side, though. I used to be okay with it, and now it just feels like such a chore! :P

Anyway, when I have super nubs that aren’t shaped very well, I like to wear nail polish while they grow out, but I don’t like wearing darker or loud colors. Sometimes I do, but rarely. It only takes about a week for them to grow out to a better length, so I just take good care of them

Fair warning to everyone, though: I Eat Mainely Lobster stained the snot out of my nails. I use ChG Adhesion as my base coat, and boy did my fingers look mega-yellow afterwards.

So what’s the verdict? Are you Team Pink-Coral or Team Orange-Coral? Thanks for reading!

Crown Royal – a gift from Lavish Layerings!

So a while back, I missed getting Swanky Soiree from a HARE Polish sale sometime late last year. I wanted it because it was in my college alma mater’s colors, but I was so wishy-washy on it that I missed the opportunity to snap it up. (Plus I had just moved, so I didn’t really have much disposable income to spare.)

My friend Jenny decided to send it to me – cause she’s wayyyyyy awesome like that! – as a housewarming present. Isn’t that sweet? I don’t have great photos of it right now, but I do want to show you a franken she put in my package instead.

crownroyal_bottle

I love purple and I love shimmer! She knows me all too well. :)

crownroyal

This is three coats of Crown Royal. This is a dark purple polish with moderate gold shimmer and sparse red shimmer. Sometimes you can see a little pink in it, but it reminds me of a more fun Dior Shadow. I love Dior Shadow, and I like to think I would wear it to somewhere like Binkley’s. I would wear Crown Royal to its sister restaurant, Bink’s. I hope that anyone in Arizona reading this knows what I am talking about (and maybe agrees and/or laughs about it).

There are times when I would try to catch the light with my nails, and there was a flash of different colors. Maybe like a gold-ish green? I dunno, but I tried taking pictures of it and I couldn’t, for the life of me.

I guess I like Crown Royal – the alcohol, I mean. It’s not bad. I don’t normally drink whisky, but it’s a nice change when I don’t want to drink rum or vodka. I definitely love this polish, though.

Pahlish End of Days

I guess this would be a fitting post because it’s Friday, and Fridays are set aside from high school football. Why, you ask? Because this contains my high school colors, blue and orange! Don’t ask me about high school; one of the only good things to come out of it was my current boyfriend, and we were eight years removed and so over it all that we both mellowed out enough to start dating. :P (Funnily enough, I liked him freshman year…what a small world we live in.)

Anyway, I received this bottle from a swap with my boss…did I ever tell you that I may or may not (most possibly may) have gotten her even more obsessed with nail polish than me? It is nice to have someone in person to squee about the latest indies coming out (and maybe have someone to laugh at the drama with). Don’t me wrong! I love you all, too. <3

This is two coats of Pahlish End of Days over OPI A Roll in the Hague. EoD is an orange jelly with blue hexes (both light and dark), and with a bit of extra oomph that I will mention in a bit.

I don’t own a darker, burnt orange, so this was probably a little too bright on me. I didn’t like that it reminded me of high school. BUT!! Check out those gold flakes. Er. ma. GERD. Gerld flerkers. Er lerv therm. I am really glad I didn’t add any more layers; I would have been scared to hide them all!

I am a little bummed that I couldn’t get it to look anything like Stef’s bottle. However, if I remember correctly, this was one of the first bottles made and it was done for a swap between her and Shannon (the awesome owner/creative master of Pahlish). My bottle doesn’t have as much blue hexes and I probably didn’t layer enough coats on to see the orange hexes. I liked that I didn’t need too many, though. I really wonder what it would look like over a brown…it would be a pretty interesting combination, one that wouldn’t require so much orange. I mean, cause I totally look good in orange. :P

Thanks for reading & have a great weekend!

China Glaze Custom Kicks

Happy Friday! I’m not entirely sure why I’m happier than usual that it’s a Friday. I am glad that this week went by faster than usual. It always seems like the days go slower before a vacation.

Here is another polish that Theo sent me. This one is one of my favorites!

Don’t think about the color on the bottle shot. It’s greener like the photos below. But that shimmer is drool-worthy!

This is two coats of China Glaze Custom Kicks, a greenish blue (or bluish green?) shade with fine gold shimmer. My photos do not do this baby justice! It is way prettier in real life.

Application was super smooth, as usual. All I needed was my base coat, this color, and some SV; no thick Gelous or IA or anything.

I’m pretty sure I can even wear this through the fall and winter seasons. It may be a tad too light, but it’s such a rich color that I can’t resist.

Here’s one of my best photos displaying the shimmer. It’s very fine, but not as fine as the “shimmer” in Dior cremes. Yes, that sounds contradictory. Check out your bottle if you don’t believe me, though! I’m not crazy!

I think I ended up wearing this for five or six days. The last time I wore a polish for that long was when I was in Napa, and even then on the day I flew home, I was already picking off the polish on my index finger. It’s a terrible habit of mine. Maybe that’s why I like knitting so much; idle hands and all that.

This polish makes me unwell. (In the best way, ofc.)

Hits Moonbow

A few weeks before my trip, I did a swap with my super awesome friend Theo. I had so much fun getting a package from her; she sent me the most awesome card, has the coolest stickers, and she packages items up like a pro. <3 her!

Anyway, I had lots of fun wearing everything I received…I'm actually not even finished wearing everything she gave me! There is one I'm saving for…whenever, not sure yet. But this is a very interesting combination I just so happened to think of when I was messing around with random generators.

This is one coat of Hits Moonbow over two coats of HARE Polish Supernova Springs over two coats of OPI Plum Full of Cheer. My boss actually recommended I layer a purple under SS…she is very crafty! Moonbow contains duochrome-y (possibly multi-chrome-y) glitter that flashes from blue to purple to pink to orange. It works so well with the green glitter in Supernova Springs, which then works way awesomely with the purple shimmery color in Plum Full of Cheer.

I like to think of Moonbow as the offspring of Ozotic 528 and 529 (which, funnily enough, I swapped to Theo!). It applies super smooth and doesn’t feel gritty. I’m not entirely sure why I disliked 528 & 529 so much, but absolutely loved Moonbow. It doesn’t make sense to me, but then again, I never make much sense to a lot of people.

The coloring on this combination reminds me of Orly Galaxy Girl, except (obvi) not as frosty. And look, there is totally a small orange flash on my index finger there! Way rad!

Unfortunately, when I took these photos, it was the morning after I had painted them, and I caught my finger between my Melmer drawers. A huge dent formed on my middle finger. I was so bummed! I am super clumsy in the morning, pre-coffee. (And probably post-coffee, shortly after.) I’m not entirely sure why my SV wasn’t completely dry, considering I found no sheet marks when I woke up that morning.

I love galaxy nails. I am a lazy bum when it comes to nail art-ing them on my nails (e.g. I’ll never do it and I’ll have to be super focused and determined before you ever catch me doing it), but I love thinking of new combinations to simulate space.
