lacquistry

Hi everyone! Here is the last in the Tool trio by Lacquistry called 46&2. I think this was one of the first Tool songs I ever heard that made me pretty crazy about them in middle school. I was definitely more into Maynard’s side project, A Perfect Circle. I had the most gigantic girl crush on their violinist.

Lacquistry’s 46&2 Nail Polish is a charcoal hella-holo fine glitter in a clear base.

This is three coats by itself. I think the charcoal glitter gives the base a slight tint. I’m also not sure why I didn’t wear this with a base color, like I did with the previous two from this collection. What’s funny is this glitter goes with 90% of the clothes in my closet. I don’t know why I have so many gray items, but I’ve been trying to branch out into brighter colors (especially since summer is coming soon).

Jenna is definitely right in that this glitter is gritty. I took these photos without top coat because I wanted to add something else to it, but you’ll definitely see that it will need a layer or two of Gelous before your top coat. Also, be careful to not scratch yourself :( I can’t tell you how many times people have asked why I have small cuts on my face, and I look down at my nails and go “well…”

I decided to put on a layer of Lynnderella Mercury’s Rainbow, because I thought it would look like mirrors laying over smaller mirrors. These two go really well together. It’s a holo glitter overload! (but in the best way, of course :D)

Thanks for reading! <3

I don’t know if the magnitude of “Undertow” explains my love for Lacquistry polishes, but I sure do love them. This is one of three from Lacquistry’s Tool trio! The other two are Lateralus (which I also own, and you will be seeing on the blog soon!) and 46&2 (which I do not own, but hope to in the near future!).

Undertow is a beautiful blue glitter that sparkles holographically (yes I just made that up) in certain lights. This is one coat over two coats of a-england Galahad. I think they paired up very nicely; Galahad looks less dusty with Undertow over it.

It was kinda nice to wear a glitter without large hexes this time around. This felt simple to me, and I like simple a lot.

I unfortunately haven’t had the chance to see Tool live; every time they planned to come to Las Vegas, tickets were way expensive and they sold out within minutes. I think they’ve come to Phoenix a few times, but I think I’m at a point where I’m past wanting to see them with every fiber of my being.

One coat applied more than enough glitter onto my nails. I wouldn’t say it was similar to a Milani One-Coat Glitter, but I think the amount I brushed on was perfect; the glitter was the star of the show, and the base color was visible enough to compliment it.

This picture (and the next one as well) was taken under my side table lamp, so you could see the holographic sparkle. The dustiness from Galahad comes out a little more as well, so there is some form of contrast.

It’s sparkling water! :)

Speaking of bands I wanna see, I managed to see Radiohead with two of my friends last night…omg. Amazing. Totally crossing that off my music bucket list. :) I never thought they would actually come to Phoenix, but they did! It was a fantastic show, and I may upload some photos soon!

Thanks for reading, & have a great weekend!

Hi everyone! Remember when I posted about the Shredded polishes from Lacquistry last week? Well, I also bought something else on the side because I thought it was pretty awesome.

This is two coats of A Friggin Circus over a-england Camelot. A Friggin Circus contains all sorts of large hex glitter under the sun: blue, silver, green, gold, orange, pink…everything! How cute is that!

I shouldn’t have used such a dark color like black as the base, because the polish has a somewhat bluish tint to the “base.” Maybe purple? I originally layered it over a-england Holy Grail, and I loved the velvet-y look it gave the base, but it was so obvious that a darker color was placed over a lighter color, so I scrapped it.

Not gonna lie…you will have to spend some time brushing the glitters onto your nail. What I did was grab a bunch of glitter with my brush, glop it all onto my nail, and then use the brush to slowly smooth it out. What was nice was that the glitter wasn’t rough, so you won’t be accidentally scratching yourself, but to be safe, I always use a coat of Gelous before SV to smooth things out.

I’ll have to come back and purchase some more. Lake Placid looks like a dupe for DL Across the Universe, & And Miles to Go Before I Sleep is my kind of holo glitter!

Oh, happy Friday! The BF and his mom and I are heading to Binkley’s in honor of BF’s late father’s birthday tonight. BF’s father was an awesome guy, and even though I didn’t know him for very long, he changed so many people’s lives. Definitely check out the menu; it’s absolutely fantastic! A trip up to Binkley’s is worth every penny. (And yes, I am getting the foie gras. Always.)

I will be leaving you with three polishes from a small Etsy store called Lacquistry. Lacquistry is run by a very sweet woman down in Tucson with a penchant for large glitters & bright colors. Basically, a woman after my own heart! I also like shopping locally quite a bit, so I was more than happy to purchase from her!

These polishes are called Shredded, and they come in a variety of colors. I purchased pretty basic colors, but I think the turquoise one is calling out to me…I’ll have to return & get it before it disappears!

(excuse the fingerprint…my fingers were a little greasy from the hand cream ;P)

This is one coat of Shredded over OPI Koala Berry. I believe this is the original Shredded; it’s what caught my eye before everything else did! I chose this base color because it is a super bright pink, and also one of the first polishes I bought since moving out for the first time. It holds a special place in my heart.

They kind of look like pencil shavings…cool, right? I bet you could layer this over pretty much anything: cremes, shimmers, glitter…well, maybe not anything black. But I bet it would still look cool!

This is 24K Shredded over black. This may be my favorite out of the three because it reminds me of thick, gold flakes. I would say that this is my alternative to polishes like Essie As Gold As It Gets, or Nyx Gilded Glitter, as this is more pronounced and less dense. If I wanted people to think I randomly sprinkled gold flakes onto my nails, I’d choose this.

Please excuse the streakiness of my ring finger; I didn’t notice it until I started editing my photos! Argh! How embarrassing. I bet this would look even better over a true turquoise color to get that gold vein-effect on an actual turquoise stone. I know, weird. I could make it easy and try some turquoise crackle over gold polish, but come on. 24K is so much cooler!

I take that back: 24K is not my favorite. This is. Look how much glitter you can get from one coat! This is Silver Holo Shredded, and maybe this is my favorite because I absolutely love holographic polishes. Technically, I should be calling holos prismatic, but let’s not get technical here. It is Friday, after all. Plus, the word “holo” is pretty sweet. Holo. It’s so futuristic, man.

I had no issues taking photos of this; you can see so many colors in there!

Application was very easy on all three; you could definitely glop on some polish on your brush & move it around on your nails for maximum random effect, and not have many bald spots. I would, however, use Gelous or IA to smooth the surface. One coat of Gelous + SV should do the trick. Sometimes the edges of the glitter stand up, and since they are pretty pointy, I imagine it wouldn’t be very fun to accidentally scratch your face. Believe me. I’ve done it with bar glitter. It’s no bueno.
