Llarowe’s Memorial Day Giveaway Results!

This is ever so late, but I’ll post it anyway. (I may have been watching too much Downton Abbey lately because I sprinkle so many “ever so”‘s and “quite so”‘s and “quite right”‘s and so on. I am not ashamed of this, but I would like Mr. Bates to stop being such a martyr and just kick Thomas in the balls. JUST ONCE. THAT IS ALL I ASK.)

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Leah Ann posted a giveaway on Facebook. To enter, you had to talk about your hero. I picked Shane Doan. Obviously he’s not My #1 Hero or anything, but he is one of them. By the way, if you don’t know who he is:

He’s not Asian, in case you were wondering.

He’s a way cool captain, a class act, a hard worker on and off the ice, and he’s seriously the nicest athlete I’ve ever met. (I haven’t met many but still.) Anyone who talks to you, albeit briefly, like you were his best friend and is genuine about it is A Very Good Person.

So anyway, I won one of these two available sets for the contest, which was pretty sweet. Technically I entered because I wanted to win “Remember,” but three polishes are soooo way better than one. :D

I never enter contests because I feel like I won’t win. Not that I should win all the time, but I don’t want to risk the disappointment. I’m so risk averse that I don’t even play penny slots. (And I’m from Vegas. I grew up with that kind of stuff. It’s very weird.)

While I’m going to show everyone what each one looks like, I actually did not open any of these bottles (except to swatch on one nail). All the below swatches are from old bottles, and I decided to mix it up with some jelly sandwiches! I like jelly. It’s great on toast, it’s great on toast with peanut butter, and it’s great on my nails. (I wasn’t about to say that it was better than toast, because I love toast.)

Ruby Red Ruby is my favorite out of the three. Here it is layered over OPI Got The Blues For Red with OPI Guy Meets Galveston on top. I believe I wore this during the playoffs, but I never took photos of it. There was a Hipstamatic photo on my Facebook page, but that was about it. This one was a lucky one. If I remember correctly, this is what I was wearing when we beat Nashville in Game 5 to get to the third round. It’s fiery and glistens and is just generally gorgeous.

Snow Angel is layered under and over OPI Don’t Touch My Tutu! I always wonder what I could layer this over, aside from white. Everything I’ve seen it paired with is some variation of white. Plus my bottle is now clumpy so the glitter doesn’t sit well. I’m always so nervous to thin it out a little with something because I don’t want to ruin it. I believe I layered it over Orly Rock Solid, but I’m not going to link that post here because my pictures a year ago were pretty terrible. I may try it again though, so you may enjoy it.

Bibbitty Bobbitty Boo Blue looks way rad paired with Revlon Royal as a base, and Nfu Oh JS-30 as the “jelly top.” I have been looking for a jelly that is less opaque than Royal, and I believe I’ve found it. Also there is a lone piece of bar glitter on my pinky. I don’t know if it’s in the newer bottles, but I don’t believe I’ve seen that before.

Thank you Leah Ann for hosting such an awesome giveaway; you certainly made my day. And thanks all for reading!
