Cult Nails Iconic + Clairvoyant

Not only is this mani tonight red, but it also features something I haven’t worn yet. I’ve been on a gigantic red kick, for obvious reasons, but I haven’t edited any of the photos I’ve taken yet so I can’t show them off. You can see Hipstamatic’d versions of them on my Facebook page, since it’s the easiest way to show content without writing a big blog post.

This is two coats of Cult Nails Iconic. I thought I would absolutely love this color; it’s a dark berry-ish red, perfect for fall, with what looks like gold shimmer and flakies. Flakies. While that sounds incredibly awesome, it doesn’t translate to the nail as well as I thought. I love gold shimmer, I love flakies, I love dark reds for fall. You can barely see the flakes (probably because the base color is too opaque) or the shimmer.

I decided to add some more flakies by putting a coat of Cult Nails Clairvoyant over it. I do love this flakie polish. It has more crazy colors than the Nfu Oh flakies. One coat even gives you enough to satiate your appetite. It’s glorious.

The super sheer blue base gives Iconic a pretty purplish tint, which I like.

I dunno why I picked this combination; I was trying new things, and unfortunately it didn’t impress me as much as I wanted. I might have to put Iconic up for adoption; whenever I try new polishes, I always try to see if I can wear this with something else.

Anyway, thanks for reading!

  1. aww, bummer for Iconic :C Maybe the base is *too* close to the colors of the flakies? But yeah, they don’t really pop. On the other hand, Clairvoyan is so full of win~ My fave -and only- multicolor flakie is OPI ILLY :)

  2. Gorgeous combo! The flakies definitely get lost in the base for Iconic though. You might want to try doing a couple of coats of the polish first, let that dry, then do a really thin coat of it again on top. The flakies just sink through all the layers and get lost.
